Memories

Ebon Gate 2018 Album

Caligos Isle, 5118

We visited Caligos Isle for the second time …
and it was better than the first.

friends

Corpip, Avawren, Telsas, and the other handful (sorry I’m so bad with names) of others that partook in the first weeks storyline were AMAZING. It set the tone for a great festival and I made new friends. ~Meureii

prudence

Leafiara saw First Comes Love, spotted the shackles and started raving to amused friend, Jastalyn, vowing to spend 10 million silvers at the best shop she’s ever seen! …but she only got to 6 million before a sense of self-preservation for her bank account (and lockers) kicked in.

splash

As Leafiara arrived for merchant work, her (not really) mean older brother Chaoswynd pinched her. She retaliated with her water cannon and he retaliated with his, soaking the carpets of Island Finery — emphasis on Finery. Shop owner, Varilora, jumped back from the sudden splash and mused about creating waterproof carpets while the mischief-making pair profusely apologized!

over the rainbow

Royg and my unexpected win of fully unlocked RainboWear was my favorite! Royg (with a last name of Biv, which so rocks, for a RainboWear merchant!) helped me create an amazing thing of beauty, and I really couldn’t have done it without him. Thanks R.G.B!

transformed

Watching Corpip’s slow transformation from terrified little gnome to mighty gnome-sized dragon as the month progressed was a delight. ~Avawren

the merchant & the imp

It was terribly trying to have to spend that much time with the imp, but the people who visited and kept him distracted, entertained, and fed were much appreciated (almost as much as the coffee so many of them thoughtfully delivered). “Confiscating” Evrem’s glorious brigandine definitely made me laugh loudly, as did Cleodelia’s unrepeatable shirt request (it was late and she misspoke). As there were so many creative, beautiful, funny, and ingenious items made, it is extremely difficult to pick a favorite creation to cross my workspace this year. But, if pressed, I’d have to go with the doll version of Fright, which is way more cuddly than it ought to be. ~Tselise

girl on fire

Claudaro, having purchased the Girl on Fire elesine gown from lucky raffle winner, Magnificos, strutted his stuff in front a whole room of merchant chasers–including Landing’s Mayor Lylia, who modeled her own Girl on Fire gown in a showdown for the ages as the two traded verbal jabs and an epic pose-off! ~Leafiara

save the village

Battling near-indestructible and murderous vines to help clear a path to Caligos Isle’s fishing village. I loved taking part in that, and I loved exploring the village afterward. ~Nazarr

rainbow dreams

Royg Biv was so generous to provide both free alterations and free unlocks to his RainboWear to everyone in the room. That was amazing and a dream come true! ~Nazarr

found

After hours and hours of searching during the finale event, with everyone else finally have given up and left for the night, Leafiara just casually handing Avawren the vials needed to finish the warding stones. Like, no big deal! Just found these laying around! Ya’ll are blind. ~Avawren

ink at first blush

My favorite? Twiddley! OMG, Twiddley and his tattoo needle! I was choosen to get a tattoo, and in the ten minutes or so I had, I came up with a pretty decent (for me) tattoo. Twiddley thought it was lovely, and that just made my day, but he only had one additional-tweak that had to be made for it, which made complete sense. And his RP, made me blush in-character and out! ~Cylnthia

mysteries

I liked the vision-hunting and talking to the artist Keilipso with Corpip and Avawren. Trying to solve the mysteries of Caligos Isle was huge fun and I loved loved loved doing it. ~Nazarr

fithies

Aquarrist was very nice and helped me keep hope when I kept trying to get a fishie from Ambie. Ambie was great and helped make EG 2018 one to remember by letting me have a fish to take home from the festival! Thank you both very much. ~ Danialle

love at first bite

The flirtatious, forward imp merchant Fright shared a lot of kisses and blood-sucking with many of his and Tselise’s customers, but perhaps none moreso than Icemule Mayor Tawariell, who lit up his no doubt black heart every time she walked in. Was it love at first bite?

drunk on fun

The rum-drinking games that started the week before Merchant week were so fun! My character was so drunk she fell and I was in hysterics rolling with the drunk messaging. Karuseau was letting me have my fun and it was great. This makes Ebon Gate GREAT! ~Isela

bespelled

Had so much fun with spell preps at Ebon Gate! First I saw Katiesa’s player happy over her premium contest submission for a Minor Spiritual prep making it into the game, then I had to do a double take when I saw my own contest submission for a Bind prep being auctioned off by merchants… But my favorite winner of all was my best friend Severine, who didn’t even send in a submission, but did get to light up with joy when I gave her the new Breeze prep–as she’s a ranger and Jaston follower! ~Leafiara

appreciation

A huge “Thank You!” to Dirvy for helping countless people with their talisman collecting and their shopping lists!

the drunk crawl

One of those special moments was the first of Karusau’s drinking contests when I refused the offer to be made sober and, with 21 shots of rum in me, had to literally crawl out of the room to get home. Then Karusau’s constant reminder of that event every time she saw him. She will never live it down.

with time running out

On the last day of merchant week I was bummed because I had only gotten 1 service so far…within an hour or two Elsia set up shop in the Merchant Lounge and was offering alterations for anyone with less than 5 services. She was working on an item for me and told me: be ready to do 3 more! I was shocked she was going to do 4 in a row for me and get me up to 5 services. Later in the day I received another 2 alterations and a gem pouch unlock, capping merchant week with a flurry of service that I won’t soon forget. Thanks to all the GMs who went the extra mile on the last day to make sure stragglers didn’t get left behind!

magic of music

Lady Xylophonia is one of my ‘must praise’ moments. Her alterations for everyone in the room somehow managed to make her already fantastic instruments and their dancing notes even more gorgeous. ~Nazarr

the experience

Farain and his games were amazing! 1st, lost pants with wheel of fate and then I had to take pants off again! I got a hilarious tattoo in bad tattoo wheels. I played it as hilarious but also mortified but those made my fest! This is why I love Ebon Gate! Plus all the merchant work I got, too! Everyone was great…I loved even the ones I didn’t get work from! ~Isela

farewell... but not goodbye

I loved to hear all the loresongs, all the stories of how people won some pretty amazing things. One mage brought me a pocket watch. It turned out to be an amazing thing, with the cutest loresong! I handed it back to him. It did not go immediately into a lootsack, no, he emptied out his waistcoat pocket and put it in there. I like to think he has it yet and remembers still its song. One of many amazing moments from this haunted and haunting Isle. Until next year, Caligos! ~Luxie
