(Note: Puppers will be a new TownCrier script for StormFront *only* and Lich, and is not an official GM release of a new pet! But why should GMs get all the fun? We’ve had a blast creating this invisible new companion and think you’ll be entertained, at the very least, by the heart-warming little guys.)

Background

For April Fools’ Day 2018, we introduced Puppers as a fleshed-out announcement for our headline spoofs that day. You can still view the archive online. Later that summer, Claudaro had an idea to make them real, and worked on and off for months to bring it to fruition.

Explanation

A giantess, Millisha, is able to commune with a spirit plane that is filled with Pupper spirits of all kinds. She has decided in her old age to allow others to experience these delightful puppies, so that they can enjoy their companionship and the Puppers can explore our world. She’ll be attuning a lucky few to their own spirit puppies at the event on Saturday, April 6 at 4pm eastern in the Landing cul-de-sac

These faithful companions will be visible only to their owners (cutting down on the lag and screen scroll for the entire realms). You’ll experience interactions with them, and watch them interact with the world around them. (All this is possible through the magic and technology of StormFront and Lich.)

Customize your pupper and pick from a list of personality types. If you want to contribute a new personality type, we’ve got a form for you to send in to contribute unique ambients and actions for the puppies.

To begin with, there will be small-scale, individual sessions to attune folks to the realm of puppers (early access to the script) and in time she will be able to fully attune the two realms together, so that everyone in Elanthia who wants their own puppy can experience the wonder of puppers everywhere (public release of the script to the repo).

There is enough precious in these bundles of joy to melt the blackest heart and bring a smile to the most cynical among us.
