This post tracks changes in the world of GS for the year of 2020, with a focus on mechanics and fluff. Events are only mentioned if they introduce things like new scripts, and likewise storylines are only mentioned if they have a tangible effect on the game world (e.g. destruction of a building, implementation of a new hunting ground).   • 1st: Bonding timer for Energy, Parasite, and Sprite Weapons reduced to 22 hours
  • 1st: Glamour (1205) released, Soothing Word (old 1205) moved to 1201, and Force Orb (1201) retired
  • 3rd: Ascension testing begins on test server
  • 3rd: Phase 1 of Open Sea Adventures and the associated Kraken’s Fall town released; this update is too sweeping in scope to summarize here, so see the forum post for more details
  • 4th: Tiering notation on Bone Shaman clothing changed
  • 9th: Commas in large numbers now show in WEALTH, BANK, SHARE, and EXCHANGE (a couple of these were active a couple days prior, but this was the official announcement)
  • 9th: Feywrot Mire carousels gain travel to Kraken’s Fall, TURN CAROUSEL TO [town] verb, updated analyze, and ability to use gold rings to prevent using crossrealms charges while moving within a zone
  • 9th: LEVELUP on test server now adds ATPs at level 100 and has no cooldown
  • 9th: Playershops no longer stop purchases or pulling items due to encumbrance
  • 9th: Registered items dropped by animates can now be RECOVERed
  • 11th: Gem chisels now alter article instead of adjective field
  • 11th: Various Open Sea Adventures updates: flag determining spawn rates, ambush trap chance altered, no more entering the Captain Door after RAZING, no more turning the wheel to the same direction it’s already turned to, treasure pile search RT reduced, OSA CREW command added, and more (see post)
  • 14th: Ascension released in Platinum
  • 14th: Kraken’s Fall bandits now appear in three new areas: Muddy Village, Cliffwalk, and Black Weald
  • 15th: Ascension released in all instances
  • 15th: Various Open Sea Adventures updates to treasure, storage capacity, a new task type, Task EXP and cooldowns, ship speeds, encounter escaping, and port immunity
  • 15th: ROLEPLAY verb updated to show past history of RPAs
  • 17th: Bosses, minibosses, and potential special creatures in the future now not insta-killable by Smite/Bane (302), Immolation (519), Evil Eye (717), Implosion (720), Bone Shatter (1106), or Wither (1115)
  • 17th: Cold Snap (512) and Pain (711) capped at 200 damage against all enemies
  • 17th: New role bonuses for Open Sea Adventures
  • 18th: EXPERIENCE verb updated with commas, Ascension Exp, Total Exp, and new layout
  • 19th: FAME verb updated with commas and will show fame to you even if the flag to show fame to others is turned off
  • 20th: Various Open Sea Adventures updates to navigators, maps, salvage crates, captain’s quarters, frigate room, captain spawning
  • 21st: More Open Sea Adventures updates to group boarding and blocks

  • 20th: Moonglae Inn now open to all
  • 20th: More spirit beast changes: new ones in the Rift, changes to various ability costs, changes to Mother Superior’s damage and Hanged Man’s self-damage, special costs now appear in BEAST INFO
  • 22nd: Targeting a missing eye now auto-targets the other eye
  • 24th: More spirit beast changes: NPC beastmaster beast usage rates changed, Listed Fights less gameable, Haste and Berserk abilities changed
  • 25th: Compartmentalized Quiver T3 updated with creature attunement and creature bane features
  • 26th: Ta’Vaalor paper system removed
  • 27th: Light Armor Mastery updated to use same Armor Use requirements as RT
  • 29th: Old Ta’Faendryl Symbol of Return spot and decay spot in Platinum changed
