What You Missed

#general

There was a lot of discussion revolving around explaining BOOST, the Adventurer’s Guild, running messages, getting deeds, and other things new players would need to know.

#premium

GM Quilic added some visualization for NPC Elspie in The Nazhor Chronicles, calling her the “hero of this story from day one” as a “mid 90s Meg Ryan with an infinity gauntlet level of kick ass and a redheads temper.”

In a recap, GM Quilic stated, “So night one: Lots of people saw stuff, with a common theme to the visions. The Adversary said farewell. Things fell from the sky and invaded. A demon showed up and Elspie annihilated it, then she asked people to meet her in Socius’ office on Sunday, as she had some things to tell us, and she’s willing to answer questions there. Plus a new cipher, at least one mysterious figure, a connection between Elspie and Akenna… Basically… QST. Par for the course.”

And a bit of a mea culpa from GM Quilic for anyone taking jokes too seriously, “Since apparently this is necessary: clears his throat My comments about instakilling people who were doing things I didn’t like were meant to be a joke. I was responding to an individual who I assumed was joking in kind, but then my words were taken literally. I’m sorry for that, and I’ll be more careful in the future.”

Later, GM Quilic said, “In case it wasn’t clear: Tomorrow’s QST will be a good chance for people to ask questions of Elspie. The more people who come ready to ask questions, the better it’ll go.”

#mechanics

GM Ixix told us that he released some things. Read the announcement here. He also added that, “A lot of the stuff in this update is able to support treasure bonuses.” and “[T]his stuff had to get done first is all.”

Regarding the Boss Creatures, players said:

  • “Would be neat for them to drop a quest item that can be returned to the adventure guild for bounty points and experience” [Neovik]
  • “They should have a higher chance to drop a box with collectibles” [HebrewToYou]

Players got a weird message upon login that said: “Maximum stamina calculation failed. The GMs have been notified of this problem, so please do not attempt to use this command again until requested.” GM Estild fixed it.

There was also a fame bug that rolled out with the new Boss Creature system. GM Ixix squashed it. GM Estild mentioned that they would need to track down affected players. GM Ixix later stated that anyone who has corrupted fame will want to place an assist so a GM can fix it.

Regarding LTE for Boss Creatures, GM Ixix stated, “I’ll just flat out tell you that one – it’s directly proportional to the regular field experience you earned for the creature – you get .5x for a pack creature, 1x for a miniboss, and 1.5x for a boss. There are no caps on it. And it’s specifically done this way so that you don’t lose out on your rewards if your head is full, so if (making up numbers here) you have 1000/1000 field experience, so you can’t hold any more, and would have received exactly 100 for a miniboss, you’ll still get 100 LTE (but no more in your bucket because it’s full).” He then answered another question, “Yeah you still get your normal experience as long as you can hold it.”

#festivals-and-events

Elysia mentioned, “I don’t like the nouns undershirt etc. simply because the layered wording needs to be updated to elminate some redundancy. “She is wearing a kirtle with an undertunic underneath it” just reads so badly. “Player is wearing a CHEST with an UNDERGARMENT beneath” would be better for those nouns.”

#roleplay-in-Elanthia

Questions of the Day

“How would non-Faendryl elves be received in New Ta’Faendryl?” [Arianiss]

“Do you feel that townsfolk have access to the same healing/resurrection mechanics we have access to?” [Arianiss]

“Does your character’s backstory have holes and issues when scrutinized with a fine tooth comb? Is there maybe no way around what I’m experiencing?” [Arianiss]

Other

Elysia dropped some knowledge on the opening of the path to the Elven Nations for non-elves.

Avaia asked, “Hmm… I hadn’t really thought about it, but always assumed that there were certain physical differences in the Elves of the different Houses (for whatever environmental reason). If all Elves are basically the same and come and go between Houses as they wish, then do the cultural tags make little sense? or are they(as so many things are) merely descriptors to use as clues for roleplay?”

Elysia answered, “At least at the start of things, we didn’t intend there to be physical differences between them except between modern day dark elves and (regular, other) elves. And the reason for the dark elves’ physical difference is explained in the history. As for everyone else, they can share the same features, hair color, skin color, etc ranges amongst any of the remaining 5 Houses, or any elf that has chosen to be unaffiliated with a House. That’s just genetics.”

#duskruin

Mnute (muted) wrote, “After twice failing to get my wish by posting on the official board, I shall now ask here! Duskruin wish: Appropriately Priced Partial Voln Armor Unlock Certificates – T1 to T2, T2 to T3, T3 to T4. The catch all pricing for a FULL unlock regardless of existing tier kinda grates on my “fairness” nerve. Thank you!”
