Wecome to the TownCrier’s Discord Digest! In this space, we at the TownCrier will attempt to provide a daily digest of select conversations at the Official GemStone IV Discord server from 10 pm EST the night previous to 10 pm EST the night of. Not all conversations will be reported and we will endeavor to utilize a neutral tone (although our unique senses of humor may show through).
Links may go to the Official Discord post itself, to the GemStone IV Wiki, or other useful and relevant places. In the case of Discord links, those links will send you to the Discord web interface.

- GM Estild announced he had fixed some more scripted items to work with shimmer trinkets based on BUGITEM reports from Maylan, Naamit, and GK! He didn’t say which items, so maybe test and see! If it doesn’t work, BUGITEM your scripted item that does not work with the shimmer trinket and reference shimmer trinkets in the description.

- In a cross-post with #roleplay-in-elanthia, GM Quilic explained that Greth will be presenting information on The Nazhor Chronicles story to date with players being able to add information and talk after the presentation.

TITHE
Rolfard wrote it best: “new mechanic verb idea, TITHE: This profession only (cleric, paladin) verb will lighten your load. Simply type TITHE and all the silvers in your pockets (and locked boxes) are instantly transferred to your deity. Using this verb will gradually accumulate silver over time granting a deed as a reward. Also, you don’t die from having too much silver from boxes.” The player added, “It would also pay to have a paladin or cleric in your party when you are gathering a lot of boxes. Simply transfer to that player and the silvers can be TITHed away”

- Macillus asked if the NPC who converts 8x-10x enchant potions has been introduced yet and players respond no.
- 925 Enchant has changed quite a bit since the Spring Spectacular and Tsalin posted the wiki link in response to Sins‘ question about essence gathering in its current state.
- Ragz asked if there were any thoughts about starting another Shattered-type server or restarting the existing Shattered server to which GM Wyrom answered there were no current plans for either.
- Mitch asked if the temporary race changing items (presumably the Disguise Elixir Item) affect gem sales prices, but it seems they do not affect that or entry merchanics into locations.
- Conversation ensued about how to handle nation versus nation conflict in GemStone with a suggestion by Flockmaster Nehor that perhaps each side could get
-run warcamps. The state of the war could be assessed by how many of each warcamp had been destroyed. This was a really large conversation! - Leafiara asked if it was possible to update the PROFILE verb to show off a selection of 10-30 titles. GM Wyrom responded that “adding new PROFILE options is on my list of things I’d like to do.”

Bug Reports
Middian asks what the estimated turnaround time is for fixing items with bugs and whether or not the bug-submitter will get a message when it’s fixed. GM Vanah explains that Ragz‘s synopsis that the timeline is “approximately somewhere between instant and never” and that the submitter “might get a message (and minor reward) about the fix if your report directly cued whatever work or investigation went into the solution” is essentially correct and adds that she usually only rewards the first person to submit a bug. She also states that identical subsequent reports just get closed, so that doesn’t do anything to help, but if you have any new information, it is okay to submit an additional report.
“I read every bug report. I send them on to the person responsible for the script or area, or sometimes I fix it myself. I haven’t had as much time for GemStone as I have in the past, but we have a great new crop of GMs who have been helping me with bug reports if there’s no one really in charge of something anymore

- Sena asked if there were any plans to allow prime and shattered characters on the same account to be logged in at the same time. GM Wyrom answered, “nothing currently, but I’d never say never on something like that.”

- “Question of the day: looking back on your character, is there a personality quirk or history change you wish you would have made that would have added a layer of rp to your character?” [Puptilian]
- “Do any of you have any minor quirks for your characters that are weirdly relevant? Allergy to strawberries or left handedness being an example.” [Nimaera]

GLANCE/DESCRIBE
GS4Lass requests “a way to tell the race of an individual without a full look“, which is a mechanic that exists in DragonRealms. Some thoughts included a verb that provides a short look at someone, reporting their race, apparent gender, and age. GM Wyrom reminded that PROFILE already does 2 out of 3. The player further explained they were hoping for something to use when they walk in a room, perhaps with an attached roundtime.

- Arianiss reached back in time to remind us that Argent Mirror Myasara beheaded Rhythus Veranthe Faendryl in 5103 for summoning a demon in Ta’Illistim to prove it was safe and sent Patriarch Korvath Faendryl a “gift” in a box. He probably didn’t like the present that much. GM Valyrka (who currently plays Argent Mirror Myasara) replies, “The Mirror does not take kindly to those who summon demons and mess up her city… she also dislikes those who kill her husband, her sister-in-law found that out… OFF WITH HER HEAD”
- Arianiss suggests that we should all add dying (and not be rescued) in the Temple of Luukos on Teras to our bucket list. Yikes! Also – how did he find this out?
- GM Quilic, storyteller extraordinaire assigned to the Premium Team, announces that there is a “catching up” meeting on Wednesday the 3rd at 8:30pm EST for The Nazhor Chronicles. He says, “This will be a mostly in-character explanation of the events that have happened up until now. I’m expecting to take about half an hour to run through ‘the story so far’, and all are welcome. It’ll be held at Greth’s (The Stumbling Pebble Bar II on FWI). Actual storyline kicks off Friday night at 9pm EST.”
- Darcena, Avawren, and Naamit give the tip that if you are Premium or Platinum, you can use the immediate locker moving service to swap locker inventories between towns. It takes 5,000 silver and one minute and you can have your things wherever you are! Nick suggests the lich script ;uhaul as an option as well.
- Flockmaster Nehor asks a series of questions about how healing works in Elanthia. Can empaths heal undead? Characters afflicted with 730 Animate Dead? A non-aelotoi transfering wounds on an aelotoi’s wing? A biological male empath healing a biological female empath’s reproductive organs? Some fell on the side of the fence that you cannot transfer wounds from a body part you do not have yourself while others said you aren’t transfering the body part, you’re transfering the wound itself and it would manifest in a similar location. A larger conversation on spiritual versus mental powers then ensued. Xorus capped the conversation with a lookback at I.C.E. interpretations of Channeling and Mentalism in regards to Healers.
- GS4Lass asks, “Are Palestra strictly warrior by profession or warrior by intent? I think intent, yes?” GM Valyrka responds that player-based Palestra must be able to wield weapons first and be fully trained in a non-staff weapon. Casting magic is okay, however, and the character does not mechanically need to be a warrior.
- GS4Lass kicked off another conversation by stating the player wished they had a better feel for what monks are intended. The conversation wound its way to discussing polytheism, monotheism, and the role of CONVERT. It also wound its way around whether or not Faendryl would loathe close physical combat as the Wiki suggests. Xorus shared some information from an old saved post by Starsnuffer quoting former GM Varevice about the difference between Dhe’nar and Faendryl.
