Posted within the Lobby of Moot Hall is a Public Notice, written in pale ink on a glossy black parchment. The Notice is dated for the 16th of Lormesta in the Year 5117, and reads as follows:

Esteemed Citizens and Allies of the Landing,
The Town Council Debates have now concluded, with a plethora of thought-provoking inquiries — and enlightening answers — involving our remaining candidates, Malluch Burdos, Alendrial DeArchon, Granthem, and of course, Larton and Edwina. I have been asked to submit my chosen nominee for Judge Renpaw’s approval by Leyan [Wednesday], so expect a formal announcement of such nearabout that date.
I have been working in conjunction with Luxelle and Leafiara, as diligent representatives of the TownCrier network, to expand and broaden the format of the public Town Hall meetings which are periodically held. Their vision — which I entirely share — has been to create something far more robust and involved within our community, in the spirit of collaboration and free-thinking that our town so readily embraces. Toward this goal, they have the full support and official sanction of my Office (as such pertains), as well as my personal thanks for the considerable efforts they have invested in such an endeavor. The first of these newly expanded and collaborative Town Hall meetings held here in Wehnimer’s Landing will be this Restday the 21st at 11:30pm Elven, and I do sincerely hope that any who are interested in current events involving our fine town — and beyond — will attend. Planning and preparation for the construction of protective shelters — to be used in the dire event of any future prolonged or devastating sieges — continues, with sappers invited by former Town Marshal Khylon expected to arrive sometime in the near future. We will be using the funds raised by my Advisor and Representative of Shanty Town, Maylan — and so generously donated by our citizens and allies — to pay for the material and labor costs of such construction. A portion of this funding will be allotted to provide generous wages and daily provisions to any of our more disenfranchised citizens who wish to aid directly in the labor efforts, or might otherwise contribute; any qualified Citizen who wishes to do so can seek out the Town Clerk for assignment of duty.
On the subject of defenses, in the near future I hope to begin reconstruction on the various towers and defensive structures decimated by Grand Magister Octaven’s previous assault, and I hope that I can count on the additional labor of some of our more hearty and civic-minded (or survival-minded, if you prefer) adventurers.
A further notice on the subject of our vigilante, called by some the “Spirit of Rone” or variations thereof: I am well aware that our town, even with its propensity toward acceptance and open-mindedness, suffers from an unfortunate measure of predation and crime. To any of our Citizens concerned about their safety such as it directly pertains to their own transgressions and past mistakes, I have been in discussion with several of our spiritual leaders to try and offer an alternative path to living with the oppressive burden of such guilt: do what is just and right, seek out one of these devout men or women who pertains to your own faith, and confess your sins before relinquishing yourself to the proper authorities. Deacon Irar of the Church of Koar, Father Albanus of Phoen, and Falvicar of the Order of the Night’s Blade are among those whom I have enlisted to perform these duties, on behalf of their respective faiths, but I am amenable to other spiritual leaders who wish to volunteer the service of confessional toward this end.
While my position affords no absolute guarantees, nor full negation of punitive measures for transgressions committed, it is hereby my standing recommendation to the Court that any who earnestly wish to surrender and absolve themselves of the burden of their crimes — both in the eyes of their chosen deity, and in the eyes of the Law — be offered a fitting measure of mercy for their repentance. If a Testimony of Contrition is provided — either by one of these spiritual leaders or a person of similarly reputable moral character (such as those who have been invested with knighthood, for those not inclined toward faith) — it is my hope that any pertinent sentencing will bear this in mind, and that an appropriate and corresponding measure of clemency be extended to those deserving.
