I am also keen to hear the details on this. Thank you for asking and phrasing better than I would have managed, Tysong.

WHIGHTCNIGHT
For math sake, let’s just pretend it’s a +1000 bonus. Which equates to a 100% chance for improved roll. If I was to get a 10 uncut diamond gem task, how does that help? Does it reduce down to 1 diamond? Does it do an X/roll of # of gems till it gets better than then original 10 I was default assigned? Also, how does having a better chance at an improved roll help grizzled & heirloom tasks where there is already only a single thing for you to kill/gather? I can understand the other tasks being benefited easily by the chance % (although still foggy on mechanics of how it works/applies the %).

It doesn’t help with the gem gathering, escort, culling, or bandit tasks. It does help with foraging (only the herb you’re tasked to gather), the d100 to determine success is rolled twice and you get the larger number. It also works that way with skin gathering tasks. For rescue and grizzled creature tasks, you have a chance to spawn each when killing specific creatures, if you fail to trigger it, you get a second attempt. It works similarly with heirloom tasks (chance for creature to drop or search the room, you get a second roll and keep the better of the two). Overall, it should allow you to complete these bounties faster and help avoid bad luck.

I would suspect on grizzled and heirloom, it reduces the max amount of kills/searches it takes to get the grizzled creature/find the heirloom.

I’ll probably try it later today, but yes, elemental is the one that interests me the most.

A few updates to the brooch:

* The cooldown resets at midnight instead of after a full 24 hours. [Any uses for today have been reset, enjoy!]
* For StormFront users, the point & click menu will now list the unlocked verbs.
* ANALYZE now provides more information, such as: the unlocked verbs, the number of times it has been used today, and the currently selected orb (also available via LOOK).

All of those updates make me very happy. <3 I was super bummed about it not being midnight before, in particular.

Is there a way to remove the feature changing aspects of the brooch? Taking it off and putting it in a container doesn’t seem to work.

(Bristenn takes a hold of Riend by the arm and swings her in, pulling her into an armored embrace. And, without further ado, he kisses Riend like he means it. Deffo means it.)

I may have missed it, how long do these last? Is there a way to remove the effect?

Hmm, no quotes.

This is in regards to the tickle/spin/push of the brooch.

Those feature changes last 30 minutes. There’s currently no way to voluntarily remove them.

Do we need to remove the brooch or anything to have the time kick in? I’ve had [color]-haloed eyes for a few hours now.

No, it should automatically expire after 30 minutes of in-game time. If that isn’t the case, please ASSIST and request a referral for a GameMaster to restore your eye characteristics. I’m not able to reproduce the issue, so if you can think of any specifics actions that you might have performed during that window that could possible be related to the problem (such as wearing another item that also affects your features, dying, etc), please let me know.

>> if you can think of any specifics

The character in question doesn’t own anything else that affects his looks unless hidden items (the brooch, a soulstone, one of this ankle sheaths that can be hidden) happen to count.

>> dying

This did happen. Logs indicate he tickled the brooch around 0:48 and died around 1:05. Times are possibly +/-5 minutes and not exact.

>> please ASSIST and request a referral

Thanks, I’ll do this.

That actually was the issue and is fixed going forward.
