With Duskruin upon us, here are some details about this run. We did a lot of updates this run, and we did a lot of prep work for future runs.

Bloodriven Village

We went ahead and updated the majority of shops this run. You’ll need to explore for shop lists, but there are many new things available for purchase.

High End Scrip Shop

As stated in 2016, we’d be retiring a number of items moving forward. We have added some new and fresh certificates and gear this run to the shop!

Here is what’s new for certificates!

*Ironwright Flares: Added to weapons that can accept scripts. Cannot work with other scripts (ex. fusion).
*Bubble Flares: Added to weapons for +10 points of damage padding.
*Polearm Flares: Added to acceptable polearm weapons.
*Knockout Flares: Added to acceptable blunt weapons.
*De-fusion: Remove fusion script and keep the enhancive bonuses intact.

Here’s what’s new for the armor stand and weapon rack!

Weapons, shields, and armor made from kroderine, zelnorn, and adamantine. It will be their base properties with basic descriptions. This way everything is known from a glance.

Here is what is returning for certificates!

*Undead Bane: Price reduced to base
*TD: +5 with price reduced to half to make more affordable
*Enchant 7x and under: Price reduced to base
*Enchant 8x: Price reduced to base
*Weight Reduction: Changed to 5% from 20%. Cap is 50% on any item
*Open Acuity Flare: Price reduced to base
*Flat Acuity Flare: Price reduced to base
*Open Mana Flare: Price reduced to base
*Flat Mana Flare: Price reduced to base

Be sure to browse the wares for sale before committing to getting a certain number of bloodscrip, as some items may not be there anymore! Items in the high end scrip shop do go up in price per purchase.

Ratacombs

There are a few big things happening inside the Ratacombs this time around. The big thing is, there are two new legendary bloodrunes in their runic stone form to be found. A cave troll and a troll king. Only one of each will go out, and like the minotaur, it will be pretty rare. There are still moonshards and additional bloodrunes in the sewers like before. The rat catcher will likely be buying rats for a little more due to the scarcity of these rodents.

Rats are going to have a few new additional descriptors this run, and they are going to be much more rare. If a rat is important to you, be sure to chase it if you catch one wandering around, as that is a rare occurrence now. When entering the sewers, you will have a CHANCE to see the trail of a rat. It will no longer be guaranteed if you haven’t found a rat this run. You will no longer be limited to just one a run, but you won’t always be able to chase the trail of a rat. The chance to find a rat happens when entering the sewers, it will not change once inside.

As the Bank Heist nears closer to a release (not this time, unfortunately), bandits have been hiding large caches of bloodscrip in the sewers. Sewers searchers have a very rare chance to uncover these caches and find up to 1000 times the normal amount! So for example, on your seventh search, instead of finding another 8 bloodscrip, you might find 8000 bloodscrip. Be warned, bandits don’t take too kindly to stealing their treasure. If you are lucky enough to find these grand amounts, it’s best to be paying attention to avoid any confrontations and loss of said cache!

Celestial Temple and Bloodforge

After the cold winter, a new area of the temple was discovered, the BLOODFORGE. All the secrets haven’t been identified just yet, but it is believed that you can transmute a completed pendant with enough special ore and a ritual. There is plenty more to be discovered, which may be revealed at a future run of Duskruin.

When moonshards were introduced, the ability to combine them and create a pendant was possible anywhere in Elanthia, however, their magic has since waned outside the Celestial Temple, and you must be inside to bundle the moonshards and place them inside a pendant.

Arena

The arena has had a number of changes this time around. When the BLOODFORGE was discovered, so were dozens ancient metal automatons. These metallic golems were created with the special material needed for the ritual for transmutation of the pendants. The golems will now be a very rare boss battle, and if defeated, will drop a small bit of ore of the type of metal it was created from. So an eahnor automaton will drop an ore of eahnor. After collecting five of these ores, you will be able to start the process of transmuting your pendant. Not all of the metal possibilities for pendants were found in golem form, but it is possible that more will be released at a future run!

With the new ores, the winnings package has been updated. Finding a pendant or rare treasure item will no longer take the place of a promissory note. Notes have been slightly reduced, as silver will always be a prize if you do not die in the arena, instead of only being awarded when winning. Arena packages will have bloodscrip depending on your score, a promissory note, an ore if you slay a golem/automaton, random loot if you win or score high enough, and a pendant if you’re lucky enough to find one!

Data Harvesting

Starting this run, everything you do at Duskruin will be recorded and tracked to your character specifically. This won’t mean much this time around, but at future runs, this can unlock special features, achievements, and more!

Thank you for posting this huge update on information.
When you say

Does that mean there is more for us to find NOW or just that it will transmute metals now and we’ll add features next run.

I think the process of continually adding features to each part of Duskruin has been a great way to keep it fresh and entertaining, so thanks for that!

Weighting and padding will be returning when we can properly price them to scale to your item. As it stands they were among the worst selling certificates.

A shame- I was looking forward to a weighting cert!

Quick question on the bubble flares and ironwright- will they be additive? For example, can you add extra padding to an item that already has bubble flares? Or another flare type to an item that already has ironwright?

No to both. They are both priced where it’s for a fresh addition to a weapon.

Padding and weighting are returning. We just want to price it more accordingly and accurately to your item. In 2016, only people applying them to maxed out items was worth it. We want to be able to let more people buy into these instead of adding dozens and dozens of certificates for the single service. We didn’t sell more than 3 last year.

I was hoping for weighting too, but we were told that things would be changing. I personally tried to factor that into my expectation setting.

1). Ironwright can work with banes, but it may be pretty useless with banes, depending on your bane.

2). Yes.

3). Gory isn’t very compatible with scripted flares. But Gory can be removed if you buy this.

Ironwright flares won’t be very cheap, since they are pretty much a scripted version of Undead Bane.

The Steel Golems were pulled from the Arena because they essentially walled empaths. I have no intention of sending mine to DR, but I figured it was worth confirming that a CS empath will be able to handle these things before they go live.

Understand and applaud (depending on the numbers) the rework for the padding and weighting additions. But I’d be much happier to see the fresh state weighting/padding come back until the changes for the rest are made.

Thanks for the announcement!

So many questions:
1) When will the high-end shop open this time?
2) Will there be a “grace period” again, where prices don’t escalate for the first few minutes?
3) In general, can we expect to see a “healthy” amount of new 10k-30k stuff outside of the high-end scrip shop?

And regarding what might be possible in the future:
4) I notice no high-end x/days this time. I’m not going to pitch a fit given that there was a pretty good set last time (and I’m a capped sorcerer with serious spellburst issues, lol). But any word on whether you’d expect more to go out next run?
5) Would you consider an Ironwright boost in the future (new flare type)? Seems like it would be a very fun addition without really increasing the item’s power very much.
6) Would you consider a bane boost in the future? A few of us brought it up in an early request thread this time. E.g. go from +10 AS against extraplanar to +20 AS against the same.

Quick questions on this. Can this be added to a plain item, or does it need to go on something with a TD boost already?

From: SIMU-WYROM
Subj: Re: Duskruin Details: April 2017
Lots to answer.

>>Are you sure that ironwright can be used with weighting?

Sorry, I thought the question was for about bane weighting. Ironwright is a scripted flare that uses the same slot as weighting, due to the bless/flare. Misunderstood the question due to banes being asked just before.

>>Question 4. If I have a grimbane but decide I want undead bane instead, can I replace it?

Yes, we’ll replace it.

>>Are there any non-certificate or weapon/armor limited items?

Right now, our bane oils are limited, only in the respect to watch the market/sales. Don’t need to make a mistake and have another RtCF situation on our hands.

>>Will EPIC deepening be done again by merchants that pop in through out the week?

Yes.

>>The Steel Golems were pulled from the Arena because they essentially walled empaths. I have no intention of sending mine to DR, but I figured it was worth confirming that a CS empath will be able to handle these things before they go live.

The golems/automatons aren’t steel golems. I’ll test this some more before we go live.

>>Any chance you’ll bring back the 8x-10x potion? I had been saving for a 9x.

I’ll check, they had hardly any sales.

>>Understand and applaud (depending on the numbers) the rework for the padding and weighting additions. But I’d be much happier to see the fresh state weighting/padding come back until the changes for the rest are made.

I’ll have a final discussion on this.

>>I have a questions, will ironwight flares and knockout flares be allowed on UAC boots or gloves? I have seen some UAC gloves with knockout flares on them. Thanks

Yes. When I said blunt weapons on knockout, I meant things that do primarily crush damage. A maul is something that works too. Ironwright were also converted to work with UCS.

>>If we have a weapon that has flares on it, and we want to put Ironwright flares on it, I gather it won’t be conflicting, but I won’t be able to use the Ironwright flares until I have the regular flares taken off?

Yes, we’ll make sure the script works with removing things if needed.

>>1) When will the high-end shop open this time?

It will open the same time as the grounds, 9pm ET. But now you have me nervous. Haha!

>>2) Will there be a “grace period” again, where prices don’t escalate for the first few minutes?

The reason for the grace period was more to make sure the system was working properly. We had no issues last time, but I’ll give everything another look over.

>>3) In general, can we expect to see a “healthy” amount of new 10k-30k stuff outside of the high-end scrip shop?

We added some things, yes, but we feel pretty strongly that those numbers should be within the high end scrip shop too.

>>4) I notice no high-end x/days this time. I’m not going to pitch a fit given that there was a pretty good set last time (and I’m a capped sorcerer with serious spellburst issues, lol). But any word on whether you’d expect more to go out next run?

We have some new 1x/day stuff in Spellbound.

>>5) Would you consider an Ironwright boost in the future (new flare type)? Seems like it would be a very fun addition without really increasing the item’s power very much.

We can. The problem is pricing those things. Same goes with doing unlocks in general. Haliste and I talked about this tonight, actually. It’s just a bit tough behind the scenes. We either fail and never do again (spell knowledge enhancives) or goes well and we keep doing it (current high end scrip shop).

>>6) Would you consider a bane boost in the future? A few of us brought it up in an early request thread this time. E.g. go from +10 AS against extraplanar to +20 AS against the same.

We can look into this as well.

>>Quick questions on this. Can this be added to a plain item, or does it need to go on something with a TD boost already?

You can. It needs to be something that works for TD bonuses. But it’s pretty pricey to start on the road of 1x TD.
