Saturday evening, we’ll be launching a brand new concept. Buy a jackpot (T6). This will cost a bucketful (pun) of seashells. It will be a random prize just like you’d get in games, digging (no other items), or DSD (no other prizes). It will be guaranteed to be one of the jackpot items from the feeders.
We will pilot this for a limited time Saturday and Sunday to see how it goes.
With this new concept, there will be other guaranteed prizes that will work the same way that will contain the T2 and T3 prizes we originally had in the feeders.

Once it is open, it will be available the rest of Saturday and all of Sunday. We’ll see how it goes and perhaps offer it again!
Just keep in mind, it’s not intended for everyone to get to try. It will be pricey, this is where seashells becoming incidental loot makes a little more sense. Now you can trade them all in if you amass enough and get a guaranteed prize.

Seeing this happening makes me happy that you are doing it. Though I’m also kicking myself for having focused on digging this past week. ~5700 digs could have been a heck of a lot more games played. Probably close to 28 hours worth there, earned about 16k tickets. Using a rough estimate, that would’ve been about 39k at the games.
Hopefully you decide to bring this back again since I’m not sure I’ll be able to pull enough shells together in time. Either way, can’t wait to hear what it’s going to cost.

No offense, but I think the point of jackpots, isn’t for more to get them. And I’m sure this venture is more to drain the massive amounts that some are acquiring so we don’t have a repeat of Duskruin’s heavy expectations of bloodscrip hoarding for the continuous attempt at bigger and better things. Not everyone is going to get a jackpot, not everyone is meant to.

The problem is that doesn’t line up with the heavy seashell generation from the cash event that is now intertwined with EG instead of running separate at the same time.
Last year’s EG really handled this a lot better with separate hoppers and tickets as incidental finds instead of being every other find. While we have moved forward in a positive direction from where we started, DSD still falls in an awkward area where its seen as the “fastest” seashell generation and primary source of quest items. The quest items aren’t needed in large amounts (YET! the last phase may need a whole bunch if the math holds up) and tickets had limited use. So if someone spent $100-200 on DSD, they aren’t getting anywhere near their value for the money as they did for duskruin with being able to buy a nice item at the end of it. Before you say “well this isn’t duskruin” yes, you are right, but people still want value for their money. So the cost of a “pull” should be around the $200 investment range for DSD, which comes out around ~24k seashells, given that premium gets about 6k per 50 count book. The items in the hopper are still heavily weighted to being RP props, which are more fun anyway frankly.
You could bump this up to 30k and you’d probably still remove a vast majority of the casual and more dedicated players from the available pool. The T5 and T6 hopper has stuff that is objectively less powerful than some of the stuff you can get out of duskruin for 10k, 5k and even in some instances, 2500 BS. The generation is close to 1:1 for sewers runs compared to perfect arena runs (~7k vs 12.5k). I feel DSD has positioned itself, by virtue of being simucoin based and how it has been repeatedly advertised, as the balancing point for the cost of the jackpot pulls.
That still comes out to several millions of silvers spent playing games/digging (thats after selling gems etc, you are still at a “loss”) so I don’t think its truely that far off either. The problem in this whole equation is DSD and how it was integrated into EG proper.

Some people decided to pay more (silvers or simucoins for licenses), and ended up with a lot more seashells. These people who accumulated a lot of seashells should have something to spend them on seeing how diving has been a bad return on investment up to this point. Not sure why people having something to spend their seashells on bothers you so much. If you did a ton of digging in the past week at a cost of 1500 simucoins for all you can dig, chances are you got a t5.

It’s $40ish for 50 dives and $40ish has been enough for many of the auctions which also guarantee jackpots. I would hope that the cost in shells is not more than you can get from 50 dives.

and the 50 dives gets you absolutely nothing. Besides a t-shirt that says I did a bunch of diving and all i got was this lousy t-shirt you get a few seashells a few quest items and if you are uber lucky a t5 or t6. 600 dives none of that.
